My first question would be, how resistant are humans to it?
We don't have the answer to that with only 1,000+ cases in the US. Peru where the variant was first identified has the highest deaths per million population of any nation at 5,876/million (compared to US at 1,897/million population)

Not too much info on the gamma variant either which is killing over 1,000 people a day in Brazil since mid-December 2020. They did reach a high of over 4,000 in April 2021, and the number of deaths has been going down but is still over 1,000 a day. Brazil has 20,066,587 total cases - 16,235,157 less cases than the US, but the US leads Brazil in total deaths by only 71,078

LOL....well,you'd better make a decision soon as pretty soon you won't be able to walk into a shop for a slice of pizza unless you've been injected and are willing to show proof of such to some burger flipper.

No problem for me, I received my second dose a month ago; I'm now "fully vaccinated" for whatever that's worth. I believe that vaccines are a good idea, plus they exempt me from many of the isolation protocols that are otherwise mandated at my workplace.

My wife and I have already been asked by a waitress in a restaurant to show her our ID's so that she could confirm we lived in the same household.

Q: "Do you mind showing me some sort of photo ID that displays your address, sir?"

A: "Why, yes, as a matter of fact I mind very much. Do you want my money or not?"

Q: "Very good, sir, let me show you to your table."

I guess the powers-that-be expect a little too much authoritarianism from a minimum-wage-earning hospitality worker who survives on tips.

My goodness....if this is what it's come to then good thing I can cook and enjoy my own food!

Hello; What I am hearing is the "vaccine passports" do not make allowance for the naturally immune. That only those with the injections cards will be honored.

I have asked this before and will again. How is it that natural immunity is not recognized to be the same or even better than the covid injections? I hear that folks like myself who had two moderna shots will get the virus and will be shedding virus. However I have not heard or read any such thing about those who recovered naturally from the virus.

First off, no one has said; " that folks like myself who had two moderna shots will get the virus and will be shedding virus."

What most authorities are saying, is that it is possible to still get the virus after vaccination, and it is possible that if that happens one can also shed the virus. The same as any standard flu vaccine. It's also possible that after vaccination you will never get the virus, you will get it and never know (asymptomatic), or you will get it and only display mild symptoms. Lots of potential outcomes, most FAR better than if you don't get the injection.

Natural immunity is not recognized because a serology test (antibody test) requires blood work, and on top of the cost of that it can be hit & miss. Unlike a nasal swab, a serology test can take weeks for your body to make enough antibodies to show up on the test. You can also get a false-positive result due to antibodies that formed in response to another type of coronavirus. You can also get a false-negative result. It takes some time after one is infected for your immune system to respond, and create antibodies. One could have a negative result but be infected with COVID-19, which is exactly why nose swabs (viral tests) are used in most health care settings. No test is 100%, not much is in health care, but at the end of the day vaccines are far easier to track & trace compared to attempting to determine who has natural antibodies, and precisely what stage those antibodies are working at. Are they at 100%, or almost nonexistent? Vaccine injections have a date stamp attached, it makes tracking easier.

On another note, the COVID-19 test I had today was very different from the two tests I had a year ago where a stick was shoved nearly into my sinuses. This time it was "twirl the swab 5 times in each nostril."

The latter is faster (results typically in a few hours,) but less accurate compared to the deep nasal swab. ( polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test)

215 new cases in the last 14 days in our small community. 16 in the hospital. Our small hospital had 53 beds with only 6 ICU beds.

Unfortunately most people reading that will not be able to comprehend the nightmare that your local health care system, and the people in your community that rely on that system, are about to face. Stay safe.

Hello; Yes at least one has. Saw him on TV myself. Do not recall who he is, but he did say such.
