How high of PH can Armatus handle?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea the disease section here sucks. I much rather come to you guys that I know I can trust with questions.

Sorry about the aro but glad to hear the armatus are alive.

I'll take what's killing my fish for $500 worth of dead fish Hybrid... "Causes diminished appetite, no physical change in appearence, can lead to the tipsy "Characin stuppor", while fish may be affected rays may not, only clue to diagnosis is small eggs dropping out of the fish while eating."

Hrmmm, can I use a lifeline to MFK?

Yes, unfortunately after a week and no answer you now have more dead fish.

What is Gill flukes?

That is correct. Enjoy your dead fish. Thanks for playing why fish die.

Lmao!!! Ha ha

keep the atf, cuda, armatus in 6.5-7PH. 23-28C

I think they havethe ability to aclimate to local waters. I dont even dechlorinate 25% water changes (which happen every 2-3days) anymore. may be Im just lucky with the local water. It's at 7.5PH from the tap.

Add wood or planted matter in the tank or filter, that helps keep the ph lower.

Sorry about the loss.

Just lost a scomb last week. had that fish for nearly a year, 1 of 3, other 2 are fine.

hybrid: what are symptoms of parasite activity? aprehensive about medicating the tank... chems are usually my last resort

From my experiences

Cuda --- They will first start to twitch and dart about the tank on occassion for no apparent reason. (My guess would be the parasite irratating the fish. Imagine what it would feel like to have a bug crawl around on/in you and have no arms to knock it off ) Then I have seen them start bashing the glass after a week or so of the twitching/darting. After that they eventually stop eating and move to the bottom of the tank or under a covering of decor and lay there like zombies for a few days while there breathing slows and they eventually die. I have also seen a few that there eye's cloud up and turn white-ish around the same time they stop eating.

Payara (scombs/Tats--- They sometimes do the twitch and dart but manly start bashing the glass and become super skittish. Then they to stop eating and move to cover or the bottom and become zombie like with no eye movement and then lay over on there side and then there done. Eyes clouding up is normal as well.

I have brought several back from the twitch and dart stage but it seems once they lay down and become zombie-ish most of the time its to late.

I know what you mean about putting chemicals/meds in tanks. Thats why i have found this one med that I have used several several times with no adverse affects and I stick with that. Because there are meds out there that can and will harm your fish. We have a med over here called copper safe that seems very harsh on fish. They become visibly stress with in minutes of dosing the tank. I have used it at 1/2 strength with good results in the past though.

If you have any problem finding a trust worthy med for parasites over there i would be happy to send you some of this Jungle labs parasite clear. I am sure shipping would be expensive but fish are too. lol

Or you can get it on ebay

Each box is 8 tablets and treats 80g for 4 bucks a box. I keep 6 of the parasite clear and 6 of the fungus clear on hand at all times. Its good stuff.

No problem my man glad to help out.

Since you would owe me a favor I might just have to swing over and take one of the rides out for a spin. lol

Hybrid, the symptoms you described are all symptoms of gill flukes (Dactylogyrus), even the eyes clouding up. No more losses here since the Aro, but appetite is still almost non existant.
