Here is my pictorial & instructions on how I clean my filter.

1) Unplug the cord from the wall outlet.

2) Close all the disconnect valves on the input & output hoses.

You still taking pictures ?
BTW it can be a good pictorial, instructions post...if you update the thread ...

Only 1 pic....

Go on. A lot of. Guys are interested :)

I'm very interested, I'm actually cleaning one tomorrow, I have 2 of them, never cleaned them before.
But they are rather simple in their design, still would like to see a follow up on the topic.

Great filters btw, the two I have make combined less noise than my fx6 (still like it though, just a tip for people who have tanks in their bedroom like myself)

I find the best way is to sit them on the rim of a bucket or sink, turn the intake to face into the bucket then I grab my water change hose whilst emptying the tank and spray it into the canister, removes most of the gunk. I also take the top floss pad out before this. every 6 months though I will open the whole thing up to get to the other pads.

May not work for some as I use a pump to drain the tanks so I have a fair bit of pressure on the hose.

I've found "backwashing" the classic Eheims isn't terribly effective. Every couple of months, I'll pull the canister out, fill a couple bucks up with tank water, and really rinse all the media in them. You'd be surprised how well the Efhimech traps poop and debris.

My big 2250 is due for a service in the next couple of weeks. If you guys are interested, I'll be sure to document the process and throw in some tips and tricks along the way.

Actually I think the OP started posting pics from my thread Here
