Anybody else do this? Sure makes feeding my monsters easy! Well theyre still small monsters, for now :)

What I do is, throw a bunch of stuff in the chopper. Then i put the mix in an ice cube tray and freeze it. i keep 3~4 cubes thawed in the fridge for the next few days. Here's what i throw in the mix:

- market shrimp
- beef heart
- gizzards
- squid
- mussles
- turkey franks
- catfish nuggets

fish love it and they go crazy during feeding. i usually feed them pellets in the morning and this stuff in the evening. enjoy :)

Jose… that is a kick *** way of doing it. Thanks for the idea.

So is that what you put in the drinks when you have a party… don’t drink too much or you’ll put the wrong ones in.

Don

That's a awesome idea. Looks like a messy feeding though?

I do something similar but I put my mixture into large ziplocks. Make it thin and then score it as it is almost frozen solid so it's easier to break pieces off.
Basically the same mixture as yours with some pellets thrown in. I also do a veggie one for my discus and silver dollars.

no not really. the fish clean it up quickly! :) there are some smaller particles that float around but these are quickly taken up by the filters. its back to normal in about 10 minutes

thats a good idea too! i got tired of prepping this stuff everyday :nilly: i just knew there had to be an easier way of feeding these guys

wow! that is a interesting way of feeding your 'monster'... do you guys switch off your pump or cannister when you feed? Cos it seems like sometimes food do get stuck and rot off...:irked:

i personally dont turn anything off. i have an FX5 and a sump. if any of this food floats its because its very small - and it gets sucked up quickly.

also, my clown loaches like to eat food that gets stuck on my FX5 inlet :screwy:

That's a good trick.. they also work well for stiring up what sits on the bottom..:)

i do almost the same thing but add gelitin of fruit pectin to the mix to keep it solid
and i use alot more fish then land animals(no turkey, and only about 100 grams total of beef heart and chicken liver)

gelatin doesn't hurt the fish? Or is there a limit to it? Just regular gelatin from the grocery store?? I'm thinking that would be a really good idea for my big catfish. They have a hard time eating anything that crumbles or falls apart easily...
