Here is the scenario: Big snowstorm that kills power in your house. Your house is already under 60 degrees and falling (power went out early am that day). The power is expected to be out for 3-4 days. But snowstorm is over and primary roads are pretty much passable (plowed). Secondary roads into your neighborhood are also passable (plowed). You also have a 4wd.

You are 15 minutes from a house with power and a new 135g tank that has no fish but has been conditioning for about 2 weeks in anticipation of fish.

Well this is a real life scenario that my BIL was in and I am the person with the 135g tank. I told him to bring them over and we'll save what we can here. At this point all the fish were alive.

What would you do?

Well he chose to let all the fish die. He stayed in his house for over 2 days with no power and all the fish are now dead. All because he was too lazy to drive the fish to where they probably would have been ok.

Just can't understand some people!

Unreal. In the Ice storm of 03 I had one generator but had to rent another just to keep all 11 or so tank up and going. We also had every blanket in the house covering the tans.It was 7 days of no power.I that 7 days I could not tell how much gas those generators used but I keep my baby's alive

Lazy, and a bit cruel IMO... If he didn't want to drive over to your place, he could have at least put a few buckets in the 4-wheel drive vehicle and turned the thing on, to provide heat to the fish, even better if he had a battery operated air pump to toss in to each bucket... he would have had to do water changes every couple hours or so to keep water perimeters in check, fish might not have survived but then at least he could said he TRIED...

I can't imagine doing anything like that ... short of the contents of my feeder tank; I'd drive several hours to keep my babies alive. What sorts of fish did he sacrifice to his lethargy?

I'd at least use some battery powered airpumps and drain the water down to 50% so the tempurature drop would be less significant. Anyhow what a cruel way to let all his fish die. Shows how that guy doesn't really care for his fish...
