We will forgive u since u live in AZ, but in winter u spend money and run heater to keep from freezing. U pay for every degree above outside temp, so u leave house cooler and wear a sweater. In summer, just the opposite: u pay for every degree below outside temp, so u leave house a little warmer and wear shorts.

ah that makes more sense, at my house we keep it at 75 in the summer and 78 during the winter. my wife has a very narrow degree of temperature tolerance and in the winter she needs to feel like she warms up when she enters the house. Being that AZ winters are alot warmer than up north, the extra degree bump offers her that.

of course it does chew through power but our kwh rates are much cheaper than the rest of the nation on average.

Sorry to offend any Cumberland Mountain tent dwellers.

i currently have 2 tanks up and running. both have south americans and both are around 82-84 degrees. The 180 gal is acrylic and has no heater, it does have a quietone 6000 running so that might help as well. On my 160 (glass) i have a 200watt. Both are real stable and it helps that we keep the apartment at around 78-80 degrees.

saw this twice in the thread and umm this doens't compute.

in the summer the A/c is on making you house cooler (typically) than it is in the winter when the heater is on.

unless you're all using single room fireplaces or something.

You save lots of money by keeping the house warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter. My house is usually around 68 in the winter, 76 in the summer. Why would you program your AC to be colder than winter room temp?
