Well perhaps it was some ritual he felt he needed to do, who knows all the customs of people?

In here, for instance, you never offer a knife. The person you offer it to needs to give you a cent, at least, so the kife is bought...

People believe that offering a knife will cut the relationship...

Anything special about the cups? Maybe he wanted them but was forbidden by his wife. "Borrowing" them from you got around it.

yea, i saw this in a movie, you have to give a coin back to the person so that the friendship is maintained.

its probably a jewish custom. i have heard from my jewish friends that jewish people are not allowed to use anything electronic during the sabbath (saturday for them) so before the sun sets on friday, they ask their neighbors to open all the lights in their house so that come saturday, the jews don't have to "use" the light by turning it on because it was already left on the day before. its a jewish technicallity/ loop-hole interpretation of their jewish laws. they also buy new pots and pans every year.

I don't mean to sound rude or mean just a question guys as to what this means:
Ok so yesterday one of my neighbors came knocking at the door(Jewish)
He said I need to ask a favor from you so I said ok,he said I'm going to give you these cups as a gift but after I give them to you I need to borrow them?
So he gave them to me then he said ok can I borrow them and I handed them back to him and he said thank you and walked away?
Would anyone know what this means just curious?

so you gonna get that pair? if you're on the fence about it, then please just buy it. maybe you could sell me some fry? (or give them to me if you're feeling generous) :p though i don't know if the fry will survive the shipping trip.

unwell, you get no pity from me.
I'm eyeing that red sev pair for sale, & don't even WANT a pair- just a grown red sev to gawk at in my 180G. they are 5 hr drive away from me. husband might be able to get them on his way back from the area.
Is that worth the $$? I think not. nor do I care. a pair could get aggressive. but I'm bored with my tank colors. & overnight shipping is a fortune.
such is the life of fishkeepers...
