Alot of people said when i got him that he was bad stock and i should take him back and that he would never look nice....also that he might be a hybrid.

He is growing rapidly and has become the biggest character in the tank...he has grown nearly 2" in 8 weeks and is currently 4"

This is what he did look like at 2" 8 weeks ago

Is he coming on like he should?

an increase in colour yes, but that could be from it settling into the tank. it has got a lot thinner if you compare the first set of photos and the 2nd.
what is its diet?

p.s. there doesnt look like there was anything wrong with it from the first set of pics. i dont know where anyone would get the idea that its a hybrid either. looks like a regular gold saum to me.

He and his tank mates get fed daily on...

Hikari sinking pellets
Hikari Gold
Flake
hand fed blood worms

Is he having trouble competing with the sd for food? He does look noticeably thinner.

Yeh the Silver Dollars are deffo the best 'feeders' in the tank...they zip around eating everything....but dont bother with my plants which is weird for them :S

I owuldnt say he looks ill tho...just like any other juvi GT :S he is getting wider and longer.

Is it just me, or does that look like a female?

Looks like my female anyways.

the SD's are making it hard for it to eat hence its weight loss.
also, your GT doesnt look like any other healthy juvie and it does look a bit ill. examples of my own saums both eating a diet of pellets, algae sticks, earthworm sticks and bloodworm, they are only about 2.5" in the pics:

Yedh could be...I had it with definite Male and it killed it tho...so gave up on that idea.

As for the other post...yeh yours does look a little fatter....but also shorter...mine is 4"

Anyway...it seems healthy enough and gets enough to eat, maybe i'll try feeding it more.

my GT is only about 1/2" shorter than yours, so its length is not an issue.

You said yours was 2.5"....why are you being *****y?
