Red Devil;1880406; said:You sound like your pretty much in the middle of it all.. and all around you sounds horrid..what a advice would you give to Jay if the tornado warning came on... would going in a bathtub and placing a mattress over you be the thing to do?
phantoms;1882269; said:yeah if thats the inner most part of the building, no windows. thats what i would do. if a neighbor has a basement he might want to go introduce himself and say hey, if there is a warning and you are home can i run over and hide out in the basement... lol
Red Devil;1882827; said:Thanks phantoms for the info ..i hope jay reads it and he is okay... wish you all the best ..
i am glad your okay Jay... i am happy you did not have to deal with it too.. but yes you must have a plan... have not heard back from everyone else so hope you all are okay...JayK1320;1888813; said:Yes thanks for the info. Unfortunately the complex I live in is all condos there are no basements at all and there is no designated "tornado shelter"...so I guess if it gets serious you will find me in the tub under a sealy! haha I have also heard about going to the most south west point of the location you are in, unfortunately that is directly in front of a mirrored wall haha so I am going to go with probably not the best choice. So back to the tub and mattress idea...not even sure if my mattress would fit in the bathroom...I guess couch cushions would be better than nothing if worst came to worst...
Any thoughts on the opening the windows idea? Supposedly this will equalize the pressure and hopefully the windows wont shatter spraying glass everywhere.
Last Friday and over the weekend we were supposed to have some severe weather around my area but we seemed to skirt it all for the most part. Got about 20 minutes of down pour on Friday night and a pretty solid thunderstorm Sunday morning where we lost power for a little bit around 7am. Other than that nothing to bad, hopefully the weather everywhere else has calmed down a little bit too...best of luck to everyone dealing with serious weather...

Lost everything here in Cedar Rapids, IA due to the flooding here on the Cedar River.
Water didn't get in to my tanks though, and now I have a tank set up in my mothers garage with my 10+" jag Jig Jig. I gave the 6" jag along with several other fish to a LFS because I don't have the room here in the garage for all the tanks to be set up and running.
I'll tell you that flood made one hell of a mess here and I about broke my neck getting this tank, and what I could salvage out of the house. Wouldn't wish a flood like that on anyone.
I personally haven't been affected by tornadoes, but knew 2 people in Parkersburg who lost their house to the EF-5 tornado there.
At the moment I'm sitting out in the garage, (hacking in to someone,to the West of me's router) checking my email and browsing MFK. Can't wait till I have my own connection again, this weak signal connection crap is for the birds.
