Hi guys,
this is my first post on this forum.
my bamboo has just hatched few days ago, and started feeding on squid.
i am worried about the size of my tank as it is only 20"
the shark is 6" and is the only living thing in the tank.
before i have kept many angels and they lived quite well in my tank, but i am still worried whether the tank is large enough for my 5" shark at this moment?
plz give me some info.

ps. i know that it is not large enough if my shark grows up, but my friend says the shark won't grow if my tank is not enough.

The biggest farce out there is that your fish won't grow in a small enviroment. I would grow it out in a 90 then move up from there as necissary.

Wow, first off you need to know the whole myth that fish only grow as large as the tank they are in is completely false! Your Brown Banded Bamboo pup is going to grow to about 36" and is going to need a tank atleast 350 gallons. It baffles me why people go out and purchase Sharks without knowing anything about them, I highly recommend you go out and purchase "Aquarium Sharks & Rays" by Scott Micheal, start doing alot of reading, and alot of research. Your tank is already almost too small for the Shark and it just hatched. You will need to upgrade very soon. And it will probable be cheaper for you in the long run to make the big upgrade now to a large tank over 300 gallons, than purchase say a 90 now, than a 300 later. You if your willing to do the work, you can construct a small pond for the Shark around 300-350 gallons for fairly cheap. You have taken on the responsibility of taking care of this shark, so we are all going to help you achieve this.

thanks guys!
this 20" tank is my smaller one, usually for small fishes
i have a larger tank at 72", but it is full of large angels
i am worried whether they would attack my bamboo shark, so i put him/her in this small one.
so you guys mean that i should put it in my large tank now? or wait until its too large for my small tank?

Jamie - No Shark should be placed with Angels. So no I would definatly not put the Shark in with the Angels. However the tank is starting to get to small, so you either need to upgrade, or get ride of your Angels, or the Shark.

what will happen if sharks are kept with angels?

What would like happen if you put the Brown Banded Pup in with the Angel?

Most likely end up with a Dead Shark. Or at least a seriously injuried one. Angels are known from picking at benthic sharks to the point of blinding or in many cases even killing them.

yup,

and on a side note you say the tank is full of angels? how's the agression in a tank like that?
