How long can a Green Terror last in a 29 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
IMO at 5 inches it should be in at least a 55 gallon. However i think GT should be housed in 75 gallons or bigger. They are slow growers but they still need their space. In a 30 gallon you might be able to get away with it for a couple of months but your going to do big water changes weekly just to keep the water clean. I had a friend who had a 4-5 in GT. His 55 gallon tank sprung a leak and he had to house him in a 30 gallon for about a month. He was doing two 30% water changes a week to keep up on his water quallity. :)

you will be OK for SEVERAL months , maybe 6-7 ,save your money for a 75. if theres something else in the 29 you probably are going to have issues sooner

Yeah man, you'll be fine for a good 6 months or so if you're getting it at 2" or less. We're talking .5" growth per month IF YOU ARE LUCKY. Going by that, you have 8 months until it's 6". They are slow growers. I've had my current one since it was about 1", and he's now about 5", and it's been 6 months.

Just as long as you know that it's eventually going to need a bigger tank.

And keep checking your water parameters. Personally, I do 50-75% water changes per week. I'm sure you'd be fine with that, but best to test every once in a while to make sure.

When it is about 3 or 4 inches you should upgrade it to a bigger tank. If you really have to, it can stay in the 29g until it is 5 inches and be fine, but I would move it sooner than later

just make SURE to get the tank you WANT next , get something BIG enough so you wont have to upgrade AGAIN ,if you dont WANT to
