How long can I keep my RTC?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^^^that & if want to make the $$$, if your LFS's sell any of those babbie turtles. Pick up 2 or 4. (End up spending atleast $5 each) Raise them till full size and you should get $80 (if you get 4 and sell them each for $20.).

I got my rtc at the beginning of november 09, he was 2-3", he is now 24"

He would make your tigers a meal around month 2.

Don't buy an rtc thinking you can sell it and make money. people can't give them away when they get bigger, let alone sell them.

You probably have around 3 months before he outgrows the 150, less if there are other tankmates.

You basically bought a fish that will most likely suffer its entire adult life unless you find someone to take it that has a large pond.

Congratulations on your purchase.

I do not foresee a Jardini working out in that tank for more than a year and a half.

I told them I changed my mind with the rtc and I'm going to see what else they have.

Keep in mind once jardinis hit 8 inches they will usually turn on any fish. It could possibly kill all your dats.

I would suggest putting the jardini with tiger barbs before executing your plan so you don't lose any fish for future reference.

good luck and congrats on the 150 pick up :D
All I had to do to get the 150g is trade my xbox 360 lol.

This was a smart choice. RTC's are nothing to underestimate.

that was a good choice cuz most members here know enough not to take on an rtc so u would of ended up giving it away somewhere else. ive made the mistake myself and i ended up finding someone on craigslist to take it. i put the add up and screened each person to make sure they had enough room for it and found. someone with a 10000 gallon pond

I am glad you did not get the RTC, I am a firm believer that if you cannot buy it and keep it for life then do not buy it.

I REALLY wish that the RTC's were banned or restricted to buy as they are just too big for the majority of the people that try to keep them.

My friend had a baby in a 6X2X2 and it outgrew it all too quickly.

Mine went from my 450g to a 210g all by himself. His pond is almost complete.

The 210g is too small for him. He doesn't seem to like it much, he's constantly attacking the tops, or the fx5 intake tube. The pond can't come fast enough.

These fish are a large responsibility and grow very fast when fed properly.

the only large rtc iv seen in real life was at my lfs which was about 3 to 3.5 ft long and in a 6x4x4ft tank. Even in that 700 gallon tank it didnt look that comfortable. I wouldnt get one for the tank you've specified it will grow fast, probably eat your other fish and you'll never be able to sell it for much or any cash
