How long can it live in a 55gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
silvers arent that hard to keep, jards grow slower but look a little better imo

They are very good looking but don't forget the agressive factor if you want more then one type of fish! It's up to you !! I have one hes awsome and i have a few types of fish with him but he's in a 225 g aquarium!Theve been together pretty much all theyre life! ED my 14'' jard is over a year old!!
It All end's up on how much money you like to spend on fish!

Thanks again, i would like to keep mine with 2 severums and 2 parrot fish is this possiable. They are aprox 5-6 inches in my 55gallon if so which one do you recomend? :)

Arowanas / Jardini's make very good tank mates with anything which dosen't fit in there mouths so both fish you mentioned Sev's and Parrot's will make good tank mates for what ever fish you decide to get .

That is probably a pretty accurate statement about a silver but not for the jardini. They are pretty much a one fish to a tank type. I only know of one guy that has his in a community setting. ( Or at least a big one in a community) I am going to try it with Dats, a Tigrinus, a few Rays, and a perch. The jardini is a lot smaller than them though and any signs of him being the agressor he will move

I have 2 blood parrot's
2-plecos
4-clown loaches
1-hystrix stingray
the day my Jard pic's on any of my fish they will have to be seperated!!!
Now my Jard pretty much keep's to himself! :)

Dan - not for a jardini man. They are very different to slivers. Unfriendly, aggressive and pretty savage. They don't like tankmates.

I jst had to sell mine because it was ripping up all my fish, and it was only about 9 inches.

I have never kept A Jardini so i was asuming there temprement was similar to a Silver Aro ! sorry if i'm wrong !

My silver is 13" and he's been very good towards other tank mates unless they could fit in his mouth that is ! I had to sell my spotted gar because of that !

Well thanks for giving me that little bit more infomation folks ! :)

Thanks once again guys you are all very helpful. i think i will be getting a silver.

Yeah Dan I don't blame you for thinking that, I was surprised by how different they are to silvers.

For a start they are more nervous and skittish, and they are jst MUCH meaner. Nasty fish.

By and large silvers won't bother anything that won't fit in their mouth, but jardini's are vicious, they'll rip fish up for the hell of it, not to eat.

From what I hear - Asian aros are meaner than silvers but not quite as nasty as jardinis.
