How long can my ex landlord wait to collect a bounced check?

He can hold the check for 6 months.

I have been in this situation before, the best way to avoid this is to keep your checkbook records accurate. It should not have come out that late so in a way whoever is responsible for it coming out is at fault but you should have been watching your money.
I know from experience trust me. It sucks alot.

thanks, i feel a lot better knowing that im not the only one this has happened to. it really does suck, but i guess i gotta do what i gotta do. i appreciate the help.
