How long can Teacups stay in 100G?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
eatting anything dead is good

the problem with blood and black worms is you need so much of it to keep the ray alive

krill is a good start

have you thought about getting a hystrix instead? retics are small and cheap but have that very long tail but the hystrix is also a small ray and slower grower. also remember males stay smaller than females and once they are mature they grow slower also. you dont have to stick with a retic you do have options.

Agree totally-having researched Rays on this and other forums realise hystrix would be ideal but haven't seen them for sale here in UK at small size or any size for that matter :(

I know but I won't be able to accommodate a Motoro longterm and won't get one for this

I'd add another filter to your tank if u were to get a retic..

i have never found retics to be hard to take care of but i never had the real small ones

get 2 males about the 6inch disk mark and you should be fine

when i say i have seen some small ones for sale lately i mean like 3-4inch disk which is a ray thats only a few weeks old

just make sure you see them feeding in the shop 1st and not on just earth worms river shrimp

i would normally say dont move a ray that has just been fed but if you are less than 1.5 hours away from home and the ray goes in a big polybox you should be fine

i bought mine when they were small (male was 3 inch disc and female was 3.5 inch disc, roughly 6-7 inches long), have had them since early march. they were in a lfs for over 2 months prior, i made sure they were ok before purchasing. the female is currently about 5.5 inches in disc, 12ish long. the male somehow has outgrown here and is showing a much different patterning than she is. he is currently 6 inches disc, 13 length. i'm wondering if he might be a cross breed. they're in a 90g at the moment, but will be getting a custom acrylic tank before they outgrow this one.

I have had really good luck with my reticulated rays and have had nothing but them now for 3 years. My female is now pregnant so I must be doing something right....I had 3 rays in a 125 for the first 2 years and they were thriving and really honestly I think they would have been fine in that tank for another year. I am religious about my water changes and good food. I stay way away from blood worms but for personal reasons I am highly allergic to them. Try and get the rays on market shrimp and nightcrawlers instead of blood or black worms pretty messy in the tank and will cost you a small fortune.
