how long did it take your jag to hit 10 inches?

Now for a real response.

What size tank? What are you feeding? And water change schedule? Is the jag the most dominant fish in the tank?

Those are all variables in growth. Best way to get a fish to grow is either isolate (in personable wet pet type of fish) or raise in small community where the fish is in charge. Power feed 4-6 times daily in small feedings. Freeze dried krill is a great growth food in addition to a staple pellet. Most importantly is clean water. I know changing 100% daily on a 180 is a bit rediculous but the more you change the better. I use a drip system that does an average of 200% wc on each tank in the Fishroom weekly and about 100% daily on my fry tank.

For a reference my male dovii has went from 2.5"-12" in like 15 months or. So with ideal conditions a male jag not already stunted should be able to go from 5"-10" in about 6-8 months as a reasonable timeframe.

To get some extra quick growth I suggest buying some high protein, high fat growth aquaculture food that can usually be found cheap on eBay. Would help for quick growth but not a great permanent food long term.
