Does anyone know what the life-span in the wild/captivity is? I see lots of monster knifes but no one seems to keep them more than a couple of years. I saw a similiar thread on the Aro page, so let's see how it works here.

Has anyone kept a Clown, Golden, Albino, Royal for more than 2 years? If so, how long and in what size tank and list mates if possible.

The longest I've ever kept a Clown Knife was 2 years and then I had to give it away because I couldn't upgrade in time. A family friend had one for 8 years, but that was given to him by his friend that had it for awhile before him.

I've had my clown for about 5 years, he's 19" and in a 125 gallon

thats odd. my buddy tong had one for about 2 years and it was like over 2ft already. it was a royal with a silver in a 180gal.

My dad had a 20" clown knife in a 55 for 10 years. This was before alot was known about stunting and I don't even think if was published how big they got. I have an old book from when he was really into fishkeeping and it list the max size as 16". It died from a heater failure. I always thought that this kind of rivaled the wohle "stunting will kill your fish" theory. I think that fish would have lived much longer if not for faulty equiptment.

well, there growth depends on a few things. sizeof the tank, (basically if your gonna stunt them) and how often you feed them.at least thats what ive been told to understand.
