I've got a 125 I will be using as a sump. So the water level won't really ever be more than 10" deep. The tank had a chip in the corner and had a very slow leak in that corner.... I stripped all silicone and re sealed the joints. Let it dry for 2 days then test filled this morning. Its been about 9 hours and is still dry, this makes me think its fine but just wondering how long everyone else waits until they say its good once you've re sealed a tank

I wait 2 days normally and i drain and refill to capacity a few times to test the seals

Do you feel 2 days is necessary? I would like to get this sump drilled asap.. Part of my says to wait the other part of me says if it hasn't leaked in the first few hours why would it later on

It might later on because of the weight of the water pushing on the silicone. What would be easier. Waiting 48 hours, or cleaning up water? Then draining and re-sealing again. I would keep it full of water and wait.

Every tank I've resealed sits for atleast 2 weeks before testing.

+1 im always overcautious with glass tanks or acrylic, but i also lay down 1"-2" seams of silicone aswell lol so it takes a good 4-5 days to even dry. Ive never done a test fill in under 2 weeks or had a leak (knock on wood hah)... but if its been holding good so far i think ur fine by now. Id guess it would leak immediatly if it was going to.

After re-sealing tank i wait for a week, then fill it completely and wait another week looking for possible leaks :)

Seems I've jumped the gun a little bit >.< oh well tank seems to still be holding water maybe tomorrow I'll drain it and drill my holes. That will give me the 2 full days with water in the sump/tank

I figured you of all ppl wouldnt wait that long! Lol. But like you said with that thick of joints its going to take a while for the silicon to dry. After the test fill how long do you leave it full of water before you bring it down into the house?
