How long do you test fill?

Seems I've jumped the gun a little bit >.< oh well tank seems to still be holding water maybe tomorrow I'll drain it and drill my holes. That will give me the 2 full days with water in the sump/tank

I figured you of all ppl wouldnt wait that long! Lol. But like you said with that thick of joints its going to take a while for the silicon to dry. After the test fill how long do you leave it full of water before you bring it down into the house?

I'm a bit unclear what what you mean by resealed. Did you remove the old silicon from the joints from the inside of the tank...and then reapplied new silicon. Or did you actually completely disassemble the tank (removed the top & bottom rims...and separated the panes of glass)...then resealed the joints between the glass panes & replied silicon to the joints on the inside of the tank?

I just scraped out the silicone in the joints then made a new "fillet joint" in the corners of the tank

U should know im just as overcatious with glass as i am acrylic lol...but ive never actually done a "test fill" lol...i give my tanks a few weeks to cure either way then set them up with my fingers crossed. I dont use any substrate so i just hook up the filters/fill to the top and let them cycle for another week before adding fish and check for leaks.. I may just be extremly lucky, but ive never had a problem either way. I always figured the more time to air dry before adding water the better but thats just me. Its been more than proven by others 2 days and a full fill is a o.k. so i wouldnt worry about anything if i were you. Geeet er running and then move to the other half of that beast :) ....

He stripped the inside of any old silicone, cleaned the glass, and reshot the silicone on the inside. Pretty common practice and ive done dozens of tanks like this myself....i know there is a debate whether or not it is necessary to "dissassemble" the entire tank but i aswell as many others have not had issues using this technique.
