Only one tank was good for 30-60 minutes a day. Very relaxed being busy with my tank, cleaning gravel and so on.
Once a week it takes more time, when I did the waterchange and the cannister.
Takes me about 45 mins - 1 hour for gravel vac & water change (50%), which I do twice a week. When I clean my canisters out (once a month) it doesn't add any time as I do it while the tank is draining so that I can clean the media with water that is partially tank water.
I change my tanks water whenever they get kinda low..maybe once every 2-3 weeks or so.
I do all 8 tanks at the same time, and take about 50-75% of thier water out and gravel vacuum.
I'm lazy, I admit it.
seems like it takes me way too long ,because i dont have a python (got to get one!) and have to haul 5g buckets back and forth across the house. With my 11 tanks I usually try to do one or two a day -but sometimes get ambitoius and try to do all on my days off ..lol ...always end up getting burnt out and lazy after about the 4th one.
I'll be completely honest. I rinse my filters out on my filters once every 6 months. I add water when they lose it. Once every 2 weeks. I don't touch my gravel. It's not that I'm lazy it's just that I don't think it's necessary. I have 1000gph worth of filtration on both my 130 and 120. And Close to 600gph on my 55s. 15 minutes a month approximately.
