how long does your weekly water change take?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if i do a full on clean in my 200G it takes close to 2 hours give or take... the 60 is pretty quick and usually takes less than an hour or so?

When I do water changes, it takes about 20 minutes on my 125.

All I do is siphon the water out, stick the hose in, fill it up, and bam. Done.

It's amazing when I suggest to people that they want to consider a fish aquarium. Their first words out of their mouth is that I don't have time to clean it. I tell them it takes about an hour per week for my 150g. I guess it's best for them not to own a tank because it will be neglected and the fish will suffer. I have been a devoted fish keeper for well over 20 years.

To drain and refill my 225(60-70% wc), about 1.5hrs. I fill a tub from the shower and use a pump to pump it back in the tank. Thats why it takes so long. I do wc's every 3rd to 4th day. I also change out my filter sock daily. BUt that only takes about 30 seconds.

I clean my 55g fancy gold/chaca tank weekly. That takes about 20 minutes.

So on average 3-4 hours a week cleaning tanks. Cant wait to get a garage and have em on auto-drips.

LOL, omg reminds me of the days before my siphon gravel cleaner. LOL, I was transporting buckets from the front yard to my room in the back. Aching back. Reminds me of Disney's Fantasia when the mops carry the buckets

My 120g takes 45 mins and I take my time too

i know what your saying, i have a friend who setup a 15 gallon and couldnt be bothered to clean it each week, i was shocked!! the fish slowly started to die or get fin rot. then when i said to him that i thought it was best that he didnt carry on with the fish keeping he thought i was being disrespectful lol. crazy s**t

I do mine Friday and Saturday. It takes me about 4-6 hours total. That includes the filters, algae scraping, etc.... I split it up over 2 days so the water heater can keep up .. I have 6 tanks up and running right now--2)180g,150g,90g,75g,and a 40g.. I still use the bucket method for siphoning but refill with a garden hose attached to the sink.

I do 2 125s, a 55 turtle tank, and a 20 long in my house in a little over an hour.

My uncle lives right next to me, and when we do our 300, 180, 125, 90, two 75s, 55, and 20, it takes about 6 hours. It would take maybe 4-5, but we have to keep stopping to let our hot water tank heat back up several times throughout the refillings.

My record is 1hr to replace 150g from my 375g, 80g from my 175g, and 20g from my 60g.

I'd like to thank my 3 siphon hoses, 275g drum, garden hose, and remote controlled submersible pump!
