How long for tannins to clear

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The tan negates the crystal clear. Get some carbon and some purigen and add them to your filter. Change the carbon and recharge the Purigen every 2 weeks. Not three.

Purigen looks like little Styrofoam balls that comes both loose and in bags. It mechanically traps the smallest particles you can imagine. It will absorb the color.

Use a lot. Infact if you don't have room for a lot in your filter, buy a new HOB, and run it with just a prefilter, carbon, and purigen.

Thant Atomix im gonna give it a try and see how it works. Do you know the cheapest place to get purigen online or should i just hit ebay?

I have driftwoods here that are about 6 years and they still release tannins. A carbon will help but water changes help as well.
I realize tannins can be beneficial to a fish tank, but let's face it it is unsightly. My question is how can I get my water crystal clear again, do I have to get rid of my driftwood all together, or is there an alternative.
