here's the story: i went upstairs to take a look at my brother's 3 gallon bowfront tank, and i see a frickin' oscar in there! i asked him why he bought an oscar, and he said this: "they stay the size of the tank they're in, and IF it gets too big, i can just use YOUR 20 gallon."
he bought a fish, then thinks he can just use my tank (it doesn't even have a filter or anything, i'm getting a watersnake for it soon) and then he tells me "and if it somehow outgrows that, we can just sell it, and if we can't find a buyer, we can just let it go." i mean, WTF?!?
OK, here's the actual question: how long can it live in his 3 gal?
it's about 1.5-2 inches long, and is happily eating hikari cichlid gold. (and lots of it. he doesn't even spit out the pellets) the tank is one of the tiny ones that you buy in the box with the filter and everything. he is alone in the tank except for a 3-4 inch common pleco
that he bought with similar thoughts(my brother is always both ambitious and unrealistic, not a good combo.)
i'm guessing it has already outgrown the tank, or will do so in about a month or less.
