In my experience, discus dont like dark tank, dont like sand or black BG, they get peppers easy and it looks ugly on discuss, but depends on the breed. You can get snake skin or turquoise breed, you can also get wild breed discuss, the only downside with them is when really stress they turn really dark, pegions are the most colorfull discuss but a weak or low breed gets alot of pepperring.it's funny cause originally it was "I want a 90 for the polys." Then my boyfriend suggested that the 90g wasn't big enough. He wants to get a 125 long for them, so Pinky(the albino) can have enough room to zoom around the tank.We looked at 125s at Petsmart recently, I liked the extra width of the 120g 2X4X2 but not the height. He liked the 6 foot length of the 125g 6x18inx2ish. Needless to say, I'm considering a 125 or a 180 with a cool background like

As far as stock, haven't really looked into it yet. Maybe some more colorful dithers for the tank to get some pops of color. Discus? large barbs? bush fish? rainbobowfish? More polys? lol Probably. Right now I'm more concerned with getting the nitrates down and not having to change the water so much. I would want a leucistic gar or mbu puffer, but those would require at least a 300g and could not be kept with the team.
Do you have any fish tankmates that you would want to add with the LJs?
Lolclm08k Again for the UJs I think the skinnier 125 wouldn't be an issue - more so for the LJs so go for it if you find one! Of course 180 would be a great buy that I'm sure you wouldn't regret.
I wouldn't do discus. They are expensive to get nice ones, and you should get adults as the youngsters need more WCs, more feeding, more care. Bushfish are cool and fun.
I have a huge potential list of things I like for my "other fish".I like many things.
If you're into gars you should check out spotted pike characin – boulengerella maculata. They are super cool. There's a striped version too. They are gar-like but stay smaller.
Are you into cichlids at all? I want a Polleni, but I also like Severums, Heterospilus, Sajica, and Loisellei but wouldn't do all of those together.
I think Rainbow cichlids might be a cool 'dither' that's also interactive - you can keep them in groups and supposedly they won't really bother other fish but I need to do soem more looking into that one. Rainbow fish of course would work...
I also like M. Dayi for an eel, (a fire eel is one I'd LOVE but they could outgrow a 180), some of the crenicichla/pike cichlids, freshwater archers, a Dat, maybe Geos? Who knows.![]()
