when you have to do hundreds of gallons worth of WC, "cheating" is the best way.
not to mention, i used to keep large barrels and containers of aged/treated water, so once the tanks are drained, i just take the pump out of the tank, put it in the barrel, run the hose to the display, and plug her back in.
i can change a 180g with gravel vac, glass cleaning, and filter cleaning, in just a matter of minutes.
maximum efficiency... minimum effort.

I couldn't agree more, I have converted my 220 to a bare bottom with a drilled drain, and a dedicated water feed line. Some times I do a water change just because its so easy and I remember the old days of the buckets. I open the drain line my tank wait 16 minutes, then come back close the drain, open the water feed line, wait about 12 - 18 minutes while the tank refills.

I have been trying to find a 100% reliable way to always drop in 25ml of prime after the water is drained; but until then I still just use a syringe and manually add it. Its very nice to not have to get wet or suck on a tube to change the water; turn 2 valves and call it a day.

i always thought about plumbing in a drain pipe for my living room tank, thast would go out into the garden. i wish i had thought about it before i set it up. at this point its way too much work to break it down, drill it, and set it back up.
next one will have a drain for sure though.

Off subject but... I was doing a waterchange a couple days ago and accidentally swallowed some water, what makes it worse, it was the corner where the gt is using as his toilet plus i just dosed the tank with salt a couple days ago! bleh.

That sucks I have gotten water in my mouth a couple times, I only swallowed once, and it was the scariest thing ever.

I had just setup my tank and was going to drain out the window. I was be hind the tank and the water went down the wrong pipe, I started chocking to the point where I couldn't breath. I actually fell to the ground behind the tank basically drowning, all I could think about is I live alone and I am going to die behind my tank and no one will find me.

I had never been so frightened in my life, I swallowed stuff wrong many of times but this felt like nothing before. So needless to say I was a lot more careful after that. Come to think of it messing with this one tank I have almost drowned and I broke my jaw, and have had several fish die filter deaths. Maybe it was cursed and thats why I got it so cheap :-)
