How long should i wait?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the tank and all the accessories were used for a couple years and then it sat empty for about a year. i am new to owning an aquarium so im not sure how to tell if the tank has cycled

I used old gravel and used bacteria sponges in a filter let my tank sit for 3 days cycle for 3 days then added fish. Supposed to wait a while with saltwater but I added some biofilter booster to help speed up the process.
Do you test your water? check you perameters before anything. And I wouldn't add a pleco start with a goldfish or something unless you do in fact have algae growing for it to eat.

right now in my tank i have 2 balas a pictus catfish and a rainbow shark. i do test my water but i am not sure what anything was at the last time i tested it

You need to test your water. If the tank isnt properly cycled the ammonia and nitrites are very harmful and or deadly to the fish. So I would wait until you test the water and make sure that the tank is cycled.

But aside from that I don't know what you are asking.
