My Oscar, Gt, and EBJD seem to have developed undesirable picky eating habits in recent days. My staple is a mix of hikari pellets and hikari carnivore sticks. They are often rejecting the pellets, and being very "choosey" with which carnivore sticks theyll eat. Food now accumulates on the substrate after every feeding.

All water parameters are the same as theyve been for the last yr. I blame myself fot over feeding them. How long a fast do you think is adequate to bring them back to their senses?

I am looking only for the shortest period that is effective. Not trying to force them onto a new food or cause anymore stress than may be necessary.

Do you believe a week is necessary? I know they can easily survive it, but I dont want to be cruel to them.

And feed less, you're more than likely feeding to much at once so feed in smaller amounts

I agree. Just feed less. My GT went about three months without eating pellets. Now it eats them like it's never been fed before. Your fish are not going to starve. They will eat when they are ready.

3 months? I assume you at least gave flakes or something right? Not eating for that long sounds terrible
