Hello, my breeding pair of jags ( male 8inch female 6 inch ) just had there first batch of babies in my 80 gallon about 6 days ago and now the fry are free swimming ( not gonna have them long term got them from a friend who left the hobby ) I was hoping to keep a few babies in a spare 40 I have and raise them until I can find them homes or maybe sell a few, I've had breeding jags in the past and know they are great parents but I also don't wanna wait too long to take out the fry and have them get eaten lol last pair I had raised them beautifully for like 10 days and then on the 11th day ate them all, so my question is should I attempt taking out the fry today or tommorow?

You can take them out whenever you want. The parents already did the work of raising them to free swimming.
And the sooner you take them out the easier it will be to catch them.

Also watch the parents. I did this and hours later the male beat up and killed the female.

wow those sound like some intense pairs lol well I took them out in a way that was recommended to me by a friend, which is basically take out like 90% of the fry and leave like 10 % with the parents so they still have fry to take care of so there not as mad and dont attempt killing eachother lol, I used this method put the majority of the fry in the 40 gallon, the parents were very shy when i was scooping out the babies (hiding) anyways i checked on the parents about 2 hours after i removed most of there fry and they were guarding the remaining few as if nothing had even happened lol it worked out well this time.

That's good, wished I would have used that method.

i think my breeding pair is turning on eachother , i noticed this morning they both scratched eachothers face's up pretty good and im afraid the aggression will only get worse with no more babies to distract them, do you guys think i should separate the pair?
