I was just wondering how long do you guys leave you aquarium lights on?:confused::confused:

Read somewhere that you shouldn't leave it on for more then 6 hrs a day, but was watching this video on the internet (bored) and it said you should leave your lights on 12 hrs a day to help kill algae.

12hrs a day will give you an algae farm LOL. i only turn mine on when im home in the evenings, for about 5hrs

in my planted tank i leave the lights on for 12 hours a day and i never have any algae. however, i use a lot of co2...

if the tank doesn't have plants i would just use the light when i want to look at the fish or feed them.

thanks, i recently cut down the front part to give a basking area for my corys. the tank was so over planted that the corys were lost somewhere. now they all hang out in the front where i cut down about 20 ft of plants lol.
