MY other three RBPs are growing rapidly, with 2 of them being a little bigger than 2" and the other at 1.5" The other guy is barely 1" and he just doesn't seem to eat like the others. Hes grown a little bit, but its barely perceivable. Do you think I should get him out of there now, or wait and see if he starts to catch up?

you may have some problem being that you only have 3= Bad number of p's the 2 the grow fastest always pick on and kill the runt, i'm guessing you already knew this, but anyways it's always better to have a shoal of 4-5+, speads out aggresion and your less likely to lose fish. i'd move him out and grow him to there sizes with power feeding etc, in a seperate tank, than add him and 2 more about the same size with them, depnding on tank size, hopefully 90+ gallons- i really couldn't give you a specific time frame on if he's going to die or not, because well.....i'm not god..

If you reread his post, you will see that he's got a shoal of 4. I would suggest separating the runt so the others don't injure him.

I thank its boloney that 3 wont work maby 11 would not work or
101 :nilly: come on guys ,

And for your runt leave it in it may or may not be fine I had 2 schools and
the first did just what you are saying and it turned out fine
then I had another same thing Fine . Cases may very mine were fine
yours may not be GOOD LUCK .

nah they i have 4, hes 1" while the others are 1.5" and 2 2" big guys that rule the tank.

since there's only a .5" size difference, I wouldn't worry too much, but keep your eye on him.
Or you could take him out and power feed, like it was previously suggested, then, when he's ready, take everybody out, and rearrange your tank, then put all 4 back in. They're going to be more worried about re-establishing territories to mess with him.

at that size .5-1" is a huge difference

you may want to take him out and in his tank raise the heat and fed well

during feedings does he eat as much as the others?
is so he could have a parisite and that ciould be the cause so you could try meds (piranhas are sensitive to some meds so make sure its a safe med to use)

he said in his first post (I THINK) that the little guy doesn't eat as much as the others.

Maybe he's being bullied by your bigger ones when your not looking, and therefore too stressed to eat properly?

You're ok with just 3, the problem is if one dies you have 2 and that's a bad number.. That IMO is the only bad number.. Most people start with more than 3 because if one dies then you have to find one the same size.. if you start with 6 and 2 die then you still have enough not to cause problems.

Also I don't know if the size difference will be a problem but the suggestions given were good, or let it ride and see if he makes it.. he might..
