your right...I'm going with all the pro's on this site. and if my fish pull through you guys are all to thank for it. I'm just doing what I'm told lol but it's a good learning experience and I am really learning my lesson right now.
As I said in our PMs, that much salt isn't that much when being dispersed in water. To treat ich, you would slowly increase the water to 3 teaspoons per gallon, and most all freshwater fish fare very well with this.
Which would you rather, a little salty water, or fish dying from oxygen deprivation? I think the answer is clear! They have to live in the nitrItes in order for the cycle to finish its magic, but you should at the same time protect your fish from it by using salt.
Also, I use 1/4 cup of salt per gallon in my brackish tank, so 50 teaspoons in your tank really isn't that much
