How long will my oxygen supply last?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
in all honesty, your shovelnose and knifefish are relatively easy and cheap to replace.

I wouldn't stress it too much.

the bigger problem, would be not only providing oxygen to your fish, but also your beneficial bacteria colony, which probably uses more oxygen. the plants will also use up oxygen while lights are not available.

OK so it seems to me that you guys are thinking the power will be off for days. it probably wont be off but 5 hrs. you really think fish will croak that fast? i dont, but i want others opinions.

ML- i like the fish i have, i dont care that they are somewhat common. i dont want "replacements" for them. my fish all have value to me. they are not somthing i would just go out and get more of. also most of my media is in my sump and it will fill up when the power goes out, making my media submerged. at least it wont be dry, right?

yea ming ya lam-O :p

fish are not toys you play with until they break and then go out and buy new ones.

and yes at least the biomedia wont dry out.

but bacteria also resides in the substrate as well (if you have any)
