how long will this last with jardini..

3rd day and nothing... same old thing with or without the jardini (lil fight here and there)... everything SEEMS peaceful..i'll give it at least a week of close monitoring... i guess nobody here really has experienced with Jars in a community of 20 fish.... ONLY REASON I SAY THAT IS NOBODY HAS GIVEN INPUT WHY THEIR JARDINI BECAME AGGRESSIVE KILLERS?, WHAT SIZE IS THE ENVIRONMENT?, WHAT TYPE OF TANK MATE?, AND WHEN DID JAR STARTED KILLING AGGRESSIVELY...?

any input would help from someone who actually kept them and not just read about them...

HERE'S ANOTHER THEORY: How fishkeepers awaken jardini's killer instinct
1. Tank is too small
2. Super aggressive tankmate like large cichlids (midas, red devil, oscar, etc)
3. starvation
4. lack of decoration or ornaments
5. small tankmates
6. boredom (LOL) just throwing this one out...

but like i said its a theory... just wondering why 1 person kept 2 jardinis that were aggressive in another person's tank and not in his tank... with other tankmates such as pbass and gars... AND live harmoniously.. LOL

I'll update in a week... HOPEFULLY none of my wish will die from this experiment...
 
IMO your jar is still settling in and only time will tell how its gonna turn out.

I think because there are soo many fish in there with him that this may actually work.
It will be harder for the jar to focus his attention on one fish, but if he does it will be on something that does not fight back.

Keep us posted but I think this may actually work out long term, but as mentioned be prepared if anything does happen

thanks for the input... i think you may be right also... 3rd day.. i have the lights turned off... that's when usually all the aggression and territorial fighting comes out.. but been doing it since the 1st day... 1 week should get the jar settled already.. he already look like he feels at home but i'm always crossing my fingers... the jar probably has the most nastiest reputation out of all these ornamental aquarium fish... so i welcome all comments and experience so i can understand this fish better...
 
who knows.. once i get my larger tank, Probable 550g... i will add my black aro in the mix... and i know that is highly NOT recommended.. but we'll c... 1 baby step at a time..
 
My big jar Brutus is very particular of his tankmates. I have him in with a couple of cks, an 8" black belt, rtc/tsn, and a leporinus. No issues. I tried to add my 12" freddy and brutus tried to eat him. My point is that jardini can be fussy and tolerant of some tankmates and simply try to destroy others for no obvious reason.

Give him a week or two to settle in then you will see his real personality shine through, i hope not at the expense of any of his tankmates, just be ready.
 
I am interested to see how this turns out. I have my 24 inch jardini by herself because she went after a couple fish in the 300 gallon. I am not going to put her back with them till I have my 4,000 gallon up and running. Good luck with everything.

i think in your situation its more territorial.. he was already use to his tankmates but will NOT tolerate any new ones no matter how big they are...

thanks... we can always only hope and see how things go.. but i will update daily for a week and then probably a weekly basis for a month... unless u naw **** happens..then i really have to end it..

anybody else with jar experience is welcome to chime in..
