I'm going to be gone for several days this weeken (4 i think) and I'm wondering if I can just let my fish fast. One tank has a 4 inch GT and several giant danios. Then I also have a community tank that has small barbs, tetras, loaches, etc. Can they survive? Or should I get someone to come feed them?

The should be fine for only 4 days. I went a way for a week and left all of my cichlids and they were fine. Somebody might recommend to you that you use those vacation block feeders-don't use them. I used them once when I went on vacation and came back to a cloudy tank filled with dead fish. Make sure to do a waterchange before you go and you will be fine.

Should be ok for 4 or 5 days without any problems.

I left the house for 10 days and I asked a friend to come feed the fish on day 5. Every fish were fine ! (platies, tiger barbs, clown loaches, angelfish)

Good luck :D

4 days should be cake for them. Before you leave, just feed them about twice as much as you normally do. Anything that falls to the bottom will be scavenged and then they will be good to go for an extended period.

The last thing you want to do is overfeed them while you're gone. Ammonia can spike up and kill your fish if you're not around to fix it. Better to just feed like you normally do and 4 days isn't really that long to go without food.

Okay. I was just worried about the community fish, since there are alot of fish in there that are only around 1.5 inches.

I went on vacation for a week but left automatic feeders which instantly clogged up from condensation so none of the fish ate. They were fine but, I was suprised at how much water evaporated in a week.

I would do a water change 2 days before and feed them a lil more than usual the day before you go.... they will be fine.
