how long without food?

Definitely don't waste your money on a fish feeder, you're not gone long enough. They could go several weeks without food easy. They can live longer than that but not happily (or healthy) if you know what I mean.

My tanks weren't cared for as per my instructions while I was on vacation. I think they got fed twice in a week the only effect was no ghost shrimp left in the community tank.

ive gone a week without feeding mine. most were small 1-4"

A week is about the max I will let it go while on vacation.

I just returned from an 11 day trip and was happy to see all my fish alive and well!

In my 60 I have three clown loaches, a leaf fish, four bichirs, and a convict. I put 70 ghost shrimp in the tank and they all survived.

In my other 60 I have it devided down the middle, two gauchas on one side, and two 4" dats on the other. I placed about 84 ghost shrimp in the tank and again everything worked out.

I spent 25 on ghost shrimp and was happy with the result.

I Think where and OLD fish may not be able to survive. I think they might be fine! Most fish can go 5 days

Like said before, fri. to sun. no problem. I do this frequently on the weekends, just feed them before you leave and when you get back. Just make sure you don't overfeed them cause your goin away for a few day's, if they don't eat it all it will do more harm than good. And since you won't be there you wouldn't be able to do anything about it.;)
