planning on getting a small arowana with some pbass in a 125 growout until we get the addition and the 500 gallon tank, how much time does the arowana in the tank its maybe 5 inches right now, how long would it take for it to grow a foot?

With proper feeding your silver can live comfortably in a standard 125 for about a year and a half. 2 years is possible but pushing it IMO. WAter quality and number of tankmates play a part as well. The heavier stocked the tank is the shorter the recomended interval.

yea i will have with it a couple grow out pbass and a lima ,for filtration, i will have 3 fluval 404's running

Sounds like a good set up. I included a picture of my 20 inch silver aro...pinky. she's in a 6 foot 135 with two air driven hydro5 sponge filters and an FX5.
(The first picture was taken at 15" or so in the 150 gallon tank. Both fish were moved together. They are best buds...)

yea cant wait till i get the fish this weekend, aro looks good by the way
will post pics of the tank this weekend or sooner!

Thanks...we got her at about 6" and shes a great fish. Unfortunatly she developed drop eye on the other side but it dosn't seem to have effected her. She and Dozer (the Pbass) are inseperable.

Pinky isn't the first silver I've raised in 30 years in the hobby and I've yet to see one outgrow a 125 in a year. The old rule of having a tank wider than the fish is long dosn't apply well to Aros because of thier flexability. As long as they have at least 6 feet of tank length to play with you'll be fine. Our 20" aro can EASILLY turn around in a 8" space between a piece of driftwood and the back of her tank when shes playing with her Pbass buddies.

I totally agree. Tank length plays more of a role for Arowana, especially Silvers. Mine will squeeze it's way through driftwood for no other reason than just to do it.
