I have a really big interest in the Arapaima Gigas and I was wondering how long could a arapaima live in a 1,000 gallon pond? And what size would I have to move it out of the pond?
Your best bet would be to preplan for a pima. The proper question is NOT; "what size would I have to move it out of the pond?". Just imagine what it would take to move a 5ft+ armor-scaled live fish (that will NOT be cooperative).
A better question to ask is; "What size tank/pond would I have to have in place to house a pima for life?"
then u prolly shouldn't own one. moving a huge gigas isn't easy. they grow so fast, you'd be wondering what to do with him every day u look at him. 1k gallons isn't much if u ask me. 2k should do it if u have good dimensions. try to play with the dimensions n build a nice tank for one that u wont have to move him out of.
