I guess one 3 inch would be fine but then you have to some how stop it from growing! ha ha

Stopping it from growing won't be any problem. Most people call it stunted growth. The only problem is that the insides don't stop growing and the fish will die.

And a lfs will tell you stories about how 4 RBPs can fit in a 29 for 2 years without any problems (speaking from experience) even though they can reach 8" within the first year. I moved mine into a 75 after having them for about 3 months at which time they were about 4" and I'd say that they have grown about another inch in the past month (which, I feel, wouldn't have happened if they were still in the 29).

ive had 2 in a 10 before i new much
they lasted 2 years
they didnt grow more than 4 inches
but thats before i knew anything
10g is ok until they get about 3 inches then id take em out before they hurt themselves

I think the point they're trying to make is just because it can be done does not mean it should.

Please take the advise from seasoned keepers.

sure u can put them in a 10 gallon! if they break out in some sort of illness and u need to give them a bath of anti-fung... other than that, u should never put your RBP in a 10gal..... good day

Had 4 RB's in a 29 for about 4 years....... They were not as happy as they could of been...... I was young and ignorant....... They only grew to about 6 inches.....1 in a 10 gallon..... It's all about quality on life.....

A bigger tank yes. Know this if you haven't bought more then the one you got don't worry about some of these guys they jump the gun on ppl. BUT if you do have 4 in a 10gal then you need to upgrade FAST. a 75 with 3-4 Ps for life is fine but you could just get a 40breeder and keep one for life happily.

none unless you want them to start killing each other. wait till you upgrade to start introducing more.

im unsure if I will have a single piranha in a 50gal tank

you "could" keep 6 babies in a 10gal aquarium temp but it would be cruel.. breeders do it all the time it would also be unhealthy as they have a lot of feeding waste.

quite a thread this is,isnt it?its understandable considering the nature of the question.i'll only say this..i dont use a ten gal even to raise rbp fry(use a 20).i did use 1 initially, but found it hard to keep the water quality acceptable.
