How many = a "hoarder"?

"Hoarding" fish seems to come up a lot around here. I would like to know what constitutes "Hoarding"? How many of a single species of fish must you have before you are considered a "Hoarder" :ROFL:

Does a dozen Clown Loaches make you a "Hoarder"?

Or does it have to do with the size of the fish? IF the species gets large does the requirement go down? Example.... 6 RTC = Hoarder, whereas you may need over a dozen Clown Loaches to be considered a "Hoarder" but if the species is even smaller like Khuli Loaches you may need 50 to reach "Hoarder" status......

Curious to hear input from any Dat or Loach "hoarders"

What kinda fish do you guys "Hoard"????

You'd have to be like ewurm and his loaches. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a couple hundred!

If loaches ever become endangered, we know the culprit. :grinno:

I don't necessarily hoard, but I want a little bit of everything! Which sucks because not everything can coexist, and so it means buying more tanks and more heaters and more filters, over and over again.
 
I think rarity also comes into play. Difficulty in availability not just who has the most money and can buy lots of fish....

Ex - 100 Widebars vs 100 Clown Loaches

OR 100 Black Diamonds vs 100 Motorros
 
I hoard fish tanks and mollies / platy's I probably have 200 of those species (including sailfin fry) It was accidental at first lol. Worst case scenario I got feeders for my cichlids
 
Ah, rare fish = less to become a "hoarder"

So that makes Jer a "AAA" Marble hoarder......

How many "AAA"s do you think are around these parts Jer? (These parts= MFK)

how many tanks you have.

Usually when you see animal hoarders on TV. They usally live in trailer parks or equivilant, haven't showered for days, and there is animal mess galore around and in they're abode. So your looking for someone with 100 plus 10g tanks with no filtration. That would weep like a baby if you took any of his/ her fish away.
 
just another "fad term"

give it a some time it will go away
