Just what the title says. Right now it has sand mixed in with some crushed coral and some tufa rock(about 12 pieces). I will be stacking them up about 1/3 up the tank to make some caves. I got my p.h up to 8 but wil go up a little more when I get the rest of the tufa rock. I want some of the malawi, tanganyikan variety thats why I want the p.h that high. thanx yall.

Can some one move this to the cichlid section.? Thanks!!

anyone...please

did those links help you out.

im used to the common names so i get stuck looking for pics, but yes it did help. what about keeping some demosoni with yellow labs

Most (some?) people will say it could work but IME demasoni are savage.I think it couldve just been my demasoni but they worked as a group (think of the crazy cave monsters on the movie "the descent") to clear my tank completely, including two Eye Biters and a Malawi trout.

ok today i bought 2 red zebra's, 2 blue peacock cichlids, 3 unidentified malawi cichlids that need i.d.-ing, I'll post pics later on or tomorrow just want to get them comfy

Well, unfortunately, there are a couple things wrong with your stocking already. One, mbuna and peacocks are not pairing fish, so buying just 2 red zebras is a bad idea. One will likely kill the other off, as they're quite aggressive. Which brings me to problem number two - mixing mbuna with peacocks. Not really a good idea. Mbuna are very fast and aggressive, which doesn't work well with the slower moving, more peaceful haps and peacocks. Plus, mbuna require a very rocky habitat, while peacocks need more in the way of open swimming space. I'd recommend figuring out if you want a hap/peacock tank, or a mbuna tank, and trade in whichever fish don't mix for more that do.

Also, buying unidentified africans from a store is never really a good idea. Especially with mbuna tanks (which is what most mixed, un-id'd africans are), you REALLY should research fish first, come up with a compatable stock list, and then look for your fish.
