For upper jaw species

Do you guys think a bichir only tank will be boring? I assume they generally stay more towards the bottom, so would adding some new world cichlid to the top/middle section cause overstocking(in terms of tank space, not filtration)

Thanks

i only have bottom stuff n my tank but its still active bichirs ropes and eels but its a matter of opinion on that but adding a cichlid shouldnt cause overstocking issue unless u get huge 1s i use 2 keep cichlids wit my polys and alot of people still do

I have the same footprint tank to stock (90g) and most people seem to say it is up to us. Its limited to upperjaw species, and you can put plenty in. Heck, even try to find one of each. (so far I only have a delhezi and senegal).

As for cichlids, stick to smaller, less aggressive if you want, however try something a little more peaceful with the bichirs.

You could do quite a few upper species. I've personally had success with green terrors as my upper level swimmers with my bichirs.

yea, just got two 16" ornates yesterday(thanks arowana king), but one keeps picking on the other one. good thing is a 180 gallon, but one starting to show bite marks. but they havent messed with my endli.

currently have 1 ornate, 2 sens, 2 dels, 2 endlis, 2 tiger oscars, 2 spotted gars and 1 jar in my 48, no fights so far...

 in a 48 gallon?!?

In my 75 gal i have 2 sens 1 delhezi and a bowfin. They all seem to fit in there fine and get along but yeah there inst much activity so i got 4 black molly's to school and add some movement. I had a ornate and Guinean but they were aggressive so there moving to my 55 for the time.
