i plan to buy a 100 gallons tank. i have 9 senegals(2-8'',3-4'',4-4'') and a ornate (6'') in a 35 g tank. i also have some bichirs in a 15 gallon tank (2-3''delhezis,2-3''p.polli,2-3''albino sen.)
would they all fit in a 100 gallon tank when they reach maturity? if not how many bichirs can fit in a 100 gallon tank?????

You're kidding right? That's like what, 16 bichirs! The ornate alone will reach 24", and all the rest will grow to at least 12". Talk about overload! A 100 gallon tank will have about 7.5 square feet of bottom area, or about 1/2 square foot per bichir. You do the math! As a grow out tank it will be fine, but once they reach 6"-8" range you will need to make other arrangements. As an example I have one 18" endi in a 180 gallon tank with nothing but a large Synodontis. So I guess it depends if you want HAPPY fish or just SURVIVING fish?

dump the seneguls and keep the rest

plan on buying a bigger tank than a 100 gallon if you want to keep all of those bichirs. for a 100 gallon i probably wouldn't keep more than 8 of the smaller species of bichirs in there. the ornate will need at least a 2 ft wide tank when full grown.

DO IT!!

if i were to buy a 100 and another 35g tank plus my 35 g tank at home, would it solve the problem??? i'll put the dels, palms, albinos and the ornate at the 100g. (7 in all) and the 9 senegals will go to the 2 35g tanks.. would that be enough?

this is hard to say but in my local pet shop near my home they have a 50 gal tank with
16 senegal bichir each 7 inches long:screwy: :irked: ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but i recomended just two bichir even your tank is big:)

A thirty gallon tank is the smallest tank I'd put a single full grown senegal in so I won't comment on 3-4 individuals in one.-Anne

yes that will be great
