Well, gave up on the jar idea and wanna know what's a safe number to put in a large tank for the fish to get along. Also can you put two blacks together? A black and a silver. or one silver and two blacks? Anyhow, just trying to gather info for my future tank and my buddies as well. Thanks everyone for your support. It'll make the difference for two monter tanks. One 500 gallon and one either 6x2x2 or 8x2.5x2.5.....:nilly:

I have 2 silvers and a black together and they all get along just fine. The black is boss because he is about a couple inches larger. But I have never observed any clashes and everyone's fins and tails are perfect to prove it.
Silvers are typically more agressive than blacks.
With a 500 gallon I would stick with a couple of each...2 silvers and 2 blacks. Then plan your mid and lower depth fish and create a monster community tank:headbang2 !!!

Nice, thinking of getting a royal clown knife, already got a CK. My buddy loves my fish....went from wanting african chiclids to wanting monster fish. I mean how can you look at an arowana and a clown knife and not just fall in love with the fishes?

:headbang2keep the Idea's comming.....more possible tank mates. :D

like i said in ur other thread, multiple aros can be a gamble, only way to know is if u try it out with the individual fish. they have different personalities and some may like tankmates, some may not. silvers n blacks are easiest to get along together. i never owned a black tho so i can't really say much there. i have 2 silvers together, no problems over here. lil bickering last year for a few weeks but that was it

as already stated, I have silvers, fouir, together and 2 blacks together.

Have ordered a big tank where all of them will ( tentatively at least ) be together. My impression, with aro's ( of course one has to pay attention to individual personalities as said by Ethnics ) is that, space given as a matter of course, the more you have together, the less trouble you'll have.

Thats so cool to be able to have that many, I'd suggest getting them together As soon as possible, sounds like you're working on it. Hope you enjoy....

Nice, I think I'll do a silver and a black with a CK. :headbang2

My buddy is a master carpenter and is making me a tank along side with his. It is a unique, cheaper design for a tank that will look wonderful after alteration are done. Basically a custom furniture style tank just awesome stuff. If anyone is interested in what we are doing, heres a link. For those who want a big tank and dont wanna use big bucks. We are changing the design just slightly on the top of the tank for better integrity and for a better lighting system. It's from GARF.ORG

It is a gamble with CK even more so than the arows. I have 2 ck...one never bothers anyone...the other took a hunk out of a 12" TSN and tried to ravage a RTC 10"...so be carefull.
Weird thing is my CK and RCK always hang out together...like pals and never fight.
One suggestion is to find a seller that has many silver to choose from. Choose 2 from the same tank, keep them together they were probably from the same parent!!!!

This is a good suggestion in terms of compatibility ( i almost bet that my 4 silvers are brothers and sisters and I have yet to see one small discussion between them ) but it makes it unsuitable for trying to get pairs...that's the bloody conundrum.
