One, lol. He was in a tank at the lfs with Black Sharkminnows and was pretty beaten up so I rescued him. I'm probably not keeping him for life either since I only have a 30g But for now, he's a refugee at my house.
I've got 6 right now. The largest is about 6". I'm about to move them to a different tank without any big mouths so I can add a few more little guys to the group
"Oddball" clown loaches can have almost any pattern EXCEPT the standard 3-bar pattern. Some oddballs are common, like the saddlebacks (2nd & 3rd bar connect around dorsal fin), but there are also rarer schemes like stripe-backs (all 3 stripes connect at dorsal), dot-backs, and my favorite-the 4-bar. Most other random patterns are just called "jigsaw" or "puzzle piece" or some other generic term. They're not too difficult to find, but it takes a minute for your eyes to sort them apart at the LFS. My dream oddball would be a 4-bar stripeback...maybe with a random dot added in for good measure. Happy hunting!
