Ive been thinking of clown loaches as a main active bottom feeder...since i heard they get to 10" plus...how big can they truly get...? I will add them to the pond when done...right now im in the process in rehoming some of my monsters that gets to big and their just has been a large change in fish selections...im getting rid of most of my monster catfishes...but may get another kind of giant catfish that is more "small mouth" if you know what i mean...im thinking of getting a Oxydoras Niger...and i'll keep all my cichlids and everything else...but how many clown loaches would you think i should get...im thinking of getting 6...is that ok to be group friendly? The pond will be smaller than before aswell...this time im going with a 8'x6'x4' with lots of current and plants and some roots....

12 inches is the biggest in captivity at the moment although 16 inches is the biggest recorded at least in the wild. Your pond at that size should be able to support 10-15 clown loaches if you can afford the adults. If I were you, start with the juveniles. They will live for a long time with you and are much cheaper in the long run compared to adults. All you need is patience as you grow them. Good luck.

ive heard that there is a guy in mass. that have a few clown loaches that are atleast 14" or more

well atleast i have room for them all...i'll just be getting 6 of them...so they have room to grow in and for my other fishes...

I've heard that its always good to get AT LEAST 5 or 6 so they can school. So you should be good with 6 of them; but keep that in mind as you move or split them up in the future.
