How many clown loaches would be appropriate...?

Depends on how you take care of these fish. It is easy to stunt these fish because most of the time people don't research enough and place them instead in tanks that are far too small, and give inadequate tank maintenance and feedings. It is also very unfortunate that they happen to be the most popular fish otherwise they will be given the chance to grow.

Just as a note, if anyone wants loaches for small tanks at 55g and less, get Botia striata, B. dario, B. histrionica, B. rostrata and B. kubotai, not the clown loaches. As far as Botia almorhae is concerned, they grow much larger than the rest mentioned above at 5-6 inches and need plenty of space. If deprived of company, they will resort to harassing other tankmates so do not blame the fish for how it behaves but blame yourself for not doing any research.;)

oh ok so my indoor project tank is going to big enough for 6 of them. :D thankd for the info bro
