How many Demasoni in 30L

How many demasoni can I fit in a 30L w/ lots of rock work? Can other mbunas be mixed?

other mbuna options would be limited, but you can get away with a small group of demasoni

3-4 i would say, but other mbunas might get to cramped, especially with the temper on those demasonis

I thought they needed to be in larger groups than that to help spread the aggession

I wouldnt try a colony with less than 12-16.30g is tiny for that many though.Its been done but could be a mess.

I know what you mean, I think I'll just hold off on the demasoni til I get a larger tank.

Any ideas on other Africans that would work in the 30g?

jewels or kribs. yellow labs aren't aggressive. most will have to wait for a bigger tank.

you could get yourself a colony and use it till you are able to get a 55 or better, and chances are you wont be getting adults anyway so you can consider it a grow out

i have a 29 gallon with 3 demasoni and 1 pleco and they are doing just fine .....i made sure to put many caves in there and when i feed them i spread the food
