Should look spectacular one mature!

I'm a big fan of dirt under gravel for plants, I've been running my tanks like this for a few years now. It goes against common practice and advice, but simple filtering only, just mechanical for particulate removal and water circulation. The plants will be doing the real work of biological filtration.

Discus in a planted tank doesn't stunt it's growth. What does stunt it mite be u won't be able to feed as much.. ppl do bare bottom for smaller discus so they can feed 6-10 small feeding a day and doing 2 times a day 80-90% water change Cuz most of time ppl feed with beef heart receipe and that stuff foul water like nothing. I've kept 18 discus in a 135 gallon tank before and kept 88 discus in a 600 gallon tank before and tank wasn't bare bottom and no I don't change the water once a day or once a week

Why not add a 100G rubbermaid sump? A tank that large would benefit from a sump. I tried a sump on my 80G and I'll never go back to using a canister unless I have to.

Really nice scape to that tank, Jimmie. Well done!

i have a 29 for a sump, I agree I'd never run any other kind of filter again. In my other system I have a 220 gal and a 300 that are run through 2 100 gal stock tanks. I'll try get some pics up of my basement this weekend
