How many females to a single male?

I had pups born here from 2 different moms less then 2 weeks apart. Your male was the only male in the tank. Maybe the # of mates is limited by his number of claspers, maybe he's a "really free spirit", but one thing I'd count on is he's not gonna pair up and be faithfull.

i saw my male motoro knock up a female hystrix then 3 weeks later knock up my other hystrix, then 3 days later knock up my motoro... so they really can get around!

Let me rephrase my question because there too many dame comedian on mfk.
Is there anything for ray hormones to get them really going? So they can pregnant 2-3 female in sort time?

I personally think good water well balanced diet, will keep your male in tip top condition. I separate my male for a week then let him in with the girls to do the business...

my marble male keeps 4 females constantly pregnant and my lone bd male keeps 5 diffrent females pregnant. i agree with the previous post that good diet and good water quality equals results.

Would like to know what the definition of good water and diet cause mine must be really poor, as neither of my males work.

its best to have 2 females to one male but in the past my male has just picked one female and just bred with her

i now have 3 females and 2 mature males the males are not fighting YET but the alpha male is now breeding with all the females

if you want them to breed faster have 2 males as one will breed fast so as not to miss out this 2 male thing is new to me as i have always only had one for short amounts of time i have had 2 males and seen the same bred fast thing

but long term we will have to see what happens so far so good

tank space is important if you put 2 males in a small tank you are asking for problems

Time will tell I guess. This is a display tank first and any breeding is a bonus. So far he still is actively pursuing two of the females. The other I am thinking he might have knocked up already.
