I know this is a highly subjective question, but I'm hunting for educated guesses here.
I have a 55 gallon tank, using gravel substrate, and a Cascade canister filter model 500 packed with peat and bio beads. Water chem tests are run daily for Ammonia (0.5 ppm, I know it seems high but this happens with blackwater tanks because of the peat, it adds an ammonia compound to the water that is harmless to fish but shows up on the chem test), Nitrites (0.0 to 0.1 ppm), Nitrates (0.0 to 5 ppm), and PH (6.6 to 6.8). All the readings have been constant since the tank was set up. It is lightly planted.
I currently have two fish both of which should reach 10 inches. One is a pike cichlid, long slender, low waste fish. The other is a rhino pleco, squaty, broad, decently high waste fish.
How many slender, medium waste fish (if any) can I add assuming they max out at 6 inches?
